ARHI mRNA is detected in all normal breast and ovarian epithelial cell cultures tested, as well as in normal ovary, heart, liver, pancreas and brain however ARHI expression is down-regulated in breast and ovarian tumors. Reactivation of ARHI expression in breast cancer cells is associated with increased histone H3 acetylation and decreased lysine 9 methylation of histone H3.
